A Place Where Someone Cares

We need a place, a caring place,
Where women with a need
May find a warm and loving face
To be their friend indeed.
Someone who'll listen to their woe,
Their broken spirits feed,
Encourage them to onward go -
A place like this we need!

We need a place - a quiet place,
Where jangled nerves can rest,
A gleam of hope, a kind embrace,
And strength to stand the test.
A chance to think, prepare and plan
A future for the best;
To find their worth as women can -
An accepted, welcome guest.

We need a place, a supportive place
Where battered women come
To find a safe and private space

A refuge from their home.
Then, when the storm as last is o'er
The future she can face
Because she found an open door
At this helpful, caring place.
