Ask, Seek, Knock
Poetic Meditations on Prayer
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks the door will be opened.” (Matt. 7: 7 - 8).
These words encourage us to bring our needs to God and assure us that He hears our petitions. However, I do not see this Scripture as promising to grant our every request exactly as we asked for it. We are not told to “demand” from God but to “ask”. As one of my poems explains, blessing may not be only in receiving an answer to our prayers, but in having been with Him.
It is my prayer that these devotional thoughts will help to enhance your times of private communion with your Heavenly Father.
If you do not know God as your Father, you may become His Child by asking forgiveness for your sin and accepting His Son Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord. He then becomes a bridge for us to cross into the very presence of Almighty God. Also, the Holy Spirit will take up residence in your life, bringing power and guidance day by day. With confidence you can always ask for His forgiveness and all spiritual blessings, for He will gladly give them to every willing heart.
May He bless you as He has blessed me!
In loving fellowship,
Nora (Honoria) Groves.
