Motherhood

Now all the waiting is over,
The months of discomfort are gone.
Pain and distress are forgotten
Because this dear baby is born.

Here in my arms I can hold her,
Close to my bosom now pressed;
With joy and love overflowing
My thankful heart is now blessed.

So like the love of the Saviour,
Enduring the cross with its pain,
So joy-bells may ring in Heaven
When mortals eternal life gain.

Bless Lord, this new life so precious,
Surround her with Your grace and love,
Protecting from harm and from heartache
Preparing for Your Home above.
