Patience

Patience is shown by the farmer
As he waits his harvest to reap;
Fishermen also are patient
Seeking a catch they can keep.

In pregnancy there's anxious waiting
For a precious child to arrive;
Long winters teach resignation
Until spring brings gardens alive.

We cannot hasten the blooming
But in anticipation we wait
Till clothed in all their glory,
Our beautiful flowers look great.

So life on earth teaches patience,
As God Himself has shown
While he waits for us to trust Him
Instead of facing life all alone.

In prayer we learn perseverance
Repeatedly storming heaven's gates;
Answers will come eventually
For he who patiently waits.
