The Master Painter

My chief desire is to be
A reproduction, Lord, of Thee.
But I own neither power nor skill
To paint in keeping with your will.
Yet I may be the canvas bare
For Your Spirit to wield His brushes there;
Blending the pigment day by day -
My task to trust and just obey.
With joy to see the Artist's Hand
Executing what He has planned.
Help me, Lord, my strivings to cease,
Content to be Christ's Masterpiece.
Then, by grace, some day I'll be
Displayed in Heaven's Art Gallery!
