Transplanted Rose

Thank You, Lord, for the rosebud sweet
That for a little while
You loaned to us. She made us cry
But also made us smile.
For when she came to be with us
A tiny, fragile flower,
We wrapped her in our arms of love
And watched her, hour by hour.

In her short life her fingers wound
So tight around each heart,
It made us very sorrowful
When we had to part;
Although we knew a sturdy bloom
That bud would never be;
So You had her transplanted
To a Kingdom Heavenly.

And when we come to join her
In Your Heavenly Garden there,
We shall find her blooming
In perfect strength and beauty fair!

Written for a young couple whose baby was born
severely malformed and lived just a few days.
