We Came Back From Africa

We came back from Africa,
Grim pictures in our mind,
Haunted by the memories
Of those we left behind.
Malnourished, sad-eyed children,
Mothers desperate, afraid.
We came back from Africa -
But the starving people stayed.

We came back to Canada
So thankful for this land,
The plenty we do not deserve
From God's Almighty Hand.
Suppose we had been Africans,
Suffering such lack;
How would we be feeling
When the visitors went back?

We came back from Africa,
Never to be the same;
Having renewed commitment
To help, in Jesus' Name.
How can we help Africa?
We can give and we MUST pray,
To make a future possible
For those who had to stay!
