When Life Becomes a Burden

When life becomes a burden
And this body just a shell,
Remind me of its Maker
Who has preserved it long and well.

And though I'm not as active
As I should like to be,
Lord, take my thoughts away from self
And centre them on Thee.

Help me to not be fretful,
At my circumstances now,
But be thankful for past blessings
And the memories You endow.

And where I am today, dear Lord,
Wilt Thou be very near,
And may I help some other soul
Their lonely life to cheer.
